The special collection of the ARTIS Library provides insight into the history of nature, art and science. Early prints by Maria Sibylla Merian (1647-1717), one of the most famous Dutch naturalists, can be found. She was the first to visualize the coherence in nature. It also contains letters from Charles Darwin, the founder of the theory of evolution.
